Toshiba’s new family of high performance drives delivers speeds of 7200rpm – the company's fastest HDD to date. The MK1649GSY has a much higher capacity combined with 33% performance improvement over its predecessor. The MK1649GSY also has the advantages of 300G of operating shock and 900G of non-operating shock.

The 160GB drive has been developed for high performance notebooks and desktop PCs but is also ideally suited for the burgeoning video-based consumer electronic applications such as Personal Video Recorders, IPTV set-top boxes and other recording systems. In these applications, MK1649GSY’s 16MB buffer memory and high speed spindle will ensure optimum performance during data intensive workloads such as video dropping.
