The ThinkPad 256GB FDE (Fixed Disk Encryption) Solid State Drive (SSD) is an ideal data storage solution that offers improved performance and reliability. It uses speedy nonvolatile memory and no moving parts, instead of the standard hard drive's spinning platters and moving heads. This drive is supported on selected ThinkPad systems such as the X301, T400/T500/T400s, X200/X200s/X200 Tablet, and W500/W700 Series systems. This option includes an adaptive cover that can be removed for insertion into the hard drive bay of the ThinkPad X301 systems and T400s systems. Also, this drive includes built-in data encryption. The ThinkPad Serial Hard Drive Bay Adapter III is supported for usage of this drive as a second hard drive.
