The Adaptec SCSI Card 39320D card incorporates packet protocol, the first protocol change to SCSI in 20 years, and Quick Arbitration and Selection (QAS). Packetized SCSI optimizes bus utilization and minimizes command overhead to bolster performance by transferring commands, data, and status using Dual Transition (DT) data phases instead ofslower asynchronous phases. Packet protocol also allows multiple commands to be transferred in a single connection. QAS reduces the overhead of control release on the SCSI bus from one device to another to help decrease command overhead and increase bus utilization.
